I have huge respect for Gary Vaynerchuk – he is about 10 years ahead of the curve in terms of online business ethics and transparency, so if you're thinking about getting started in the online game, you and you haven't caught up with his books & videos, you should switch off your TV for a couple of days & grab a pen, take some notes, and write down an action plan based on your skillsets and passions.

I'm about to launch my first online training product on video marketing and video creation, and Gary makes it very clear that if you have skills that others want to benefit from, it's never been easier and cheaper to get started.

So how do you get started? Well, buy a couple of Gary's products, get yourself a simple WordPress website and start writing about your skills, offering free downloads in exchange for your email address, and then once you've got a few dozen, start asking them how you might be able to help. And, better still, hang out on the Warrior Forum, a superb place for finding out how to get started. If you have any questions, please do fill in your details on this page (or at the bottom, in the comments section).

Wishing you every success as you build your online empire,

Dez.

FusionHQ Review

Today I'm going to let you know all about one of the coolest pieces of software I have ever seen for managing and building an online business,  called FusionHQ. It's perfect for non-techies and seasoned marketers because it requires no coding at all and is really simple to use.

The biggest challenge that typically confronts would-be marketers is the technical hurdle that must be successfully jumped even before an idea can even begin to be turned into something tangiable.

FusionHQ changes all that because it eliminates the need for programmers and designers (which is why I'm so excited about it). You can now do it yourself or get outsourced staff to do it – it's really that easy (I'll explain in more detail shortly).

I've got nothing against being able to roll up my sleeves and coding manually, but the time-saver that FusionHQ provides is incredible.

For the first time ever, I can actually *think* about where I'm going, and what I want to achieve, instead of getting bogged down in technical blind alleys.

So What is FusionHQ?

FusionHQ is a multi tool platform that allows anyone (even a non-techie) to build an unlimited amount of professional, fully customizable sales funnels, membership sites and affiliate programs without a single line of code.

No HTML, no PHP, not even FTP – it's all automated.

(BUT – and this is the coolest thing, you can *still* do all the tech-head stuff if you have those sort of skills).

Building Websites

FusionHQ uses drag and drop technology which is very intuitive. You can literally drag an optin form onto the page (fully coded). The same goes for videos, buy now buttons, images and much more. This is awesome especially since most other people only allow you to use a WYSIWYG text editor.

I love FusionHQ's split-testing feature because it's very simple to do: I can set up a split test in 20 seconds – all without a single line of code, and then analyse which page converts better…all within the FusionHQ interface.

When it comes to building your site, there are plenty of professional templates to choose from and you can create your own, or modify the existing range.

You can then build out your sales funnel by adding pages to the drag and drop process map. This is where you plan out your upsells, downsells, exit popups, etc. FusionHQ codes it all together automatically. Perfect for non-techies and advanced marketers.

My favourite part of FusionHQ is the membership site builder. It makes it so simple to build an entire membership site in no time at all.

FusionHQ allows you to manage your members, give unlimited membership levels, and build your membership site using the drag and drop technology (again no coding at all).

There are a lot of membership scripts out there that aren't real membership sites.

FusionHQ membership sites…

* Give everyone a unique username and password
* Only allow one person to login at once per username (preventing people from sharing login details)
* Drip feeds content (great for making money with membership sites)
* If someone refunds they will actually lose access to the membership (unlike many other membership scripts out there)

Hosted on Your own Server:

Once you're happy with your site, FusionHQ allows you to upload your website to your own hosting or FusionHQ's cloud Hosting. With the FusionHQ cloud hosting you don't even need to worry about changing DNS settings – it's nice for non-techies who don't know how to do that kind of thing.

Note: FusionHQ is not one of those platforms that force you to upload your website on THEIR server. Platforms that do this usually take your website should you decide to move on to something else (it doesn't make good business sense).

FusionHQ isn't like that, you can upload your files to your own hosting and you can even export your site to a zip file if needed. Giving you all the control. As a retired Linux geek, that's music to my ears 🙂

Payment Gateways

If you intend to sell anything via your website, you're going to need a way to process payments.

Currently FusionHQ easily integrates with Clickbank, Paypal, 1shoppingcart, 2checkout and Authorize.net (with more on the way in future upgrades).

Autoresponders

FusionHQ has it's own in-house autoresponder, making it more of a fully integrated system for online business owners.

Obviously you don't have to use it if you don't want to. You can continue using your own autoresponder. For some of my existing campaigns, I've carried on using Aweber, but for my main membership website, Web Video Explosion, it made much more sense to use the built-in autoresponder, as it allows for easy integration with the Affiliate setup.

FusionHQ integrates with all the other popular autoresponders (as well as Aweber), Getresponse and iContact.

Go2webinar integration

Webinars are a great way to make money provided you have something to sell. Well FusionHQ allows you to set up custom squeeze pages that register people to multiple webinars AND a list simultaneously from one form.

This is very powerful and will help you get more people on your webinars, which means more money. It's also a great way to build your list because they sign up for the webinar(s) and your list at the same time – all from one form.

When I first started using FusionHQ, I didn't spot this feature, and only discovered after we ran our first webinar for Web Video Explosion that it was a pretty much 1-click process.

Affiliate Program

You can build an affiliate program without any coding. Fill out your settings, create your tools and you're ready to recruit affiliates. The affiliate software has double layers of protection – IP tracking AND cookie tracking – which ensures accurate stats for affiliates.

FusionHQ's affiliate software enables you to manage affiliates, create custom commissions, custom tools for specific affiliates, etc.

It can also be used to integrate with Clickbank much in the same way as EasyClickMate.

Conclusion

FusionHQ is an impressive multi tool platform that saves a ton of time and money. If you're serious about building an online business then this is a platform that I'd highly recommend, and I'm using it as the platform of choice for delivering my forthcomging Web Video Explosion Training Program.

I love its drag and drop simplicity, while being fully customizable and professional at the same time. It's an all-in-one business platform that integrates with popular softwares without a single line of code.

I didn't think software like this would be possible (especially doing all this without a single line of code) – but I'm happy to say I've been proved wrong. There are a few platforms on the market though FusionHQ is definitely way a head of the game.

FusionHQ have a complete team behind them and have big plans for the future. As a member of FusionHQ you get all future updates for free – which is great.

FusionHQ has now made the technical side of managing and building an online business simple and I applaud them for that. This is definitely something that is now an essential core part of my business.

No need to waste thousands of dollar on programmers – not to mention all the time it takes trying to explain what you want.

If you're a non-techie, this is dream come true – so many people get stuck on the technical stuff (or, in my case, badly side-tracked!!)).

Now you can focus more on the marketing and getting the money coming in.

Welcome to the Mad Web Scientist!

Here’s a recent example of a video embedded with Easy Video Player 2:

The actual video is on the Web Video Explosion website, which is running FusionHQ – a very powerful marketing platform which allows me to generate websites, sales funnels, "launch trees", affiliate campaigns, and much more.

If you’re serious about online marketing, then both Easy Video Player 2 & FusionHQ will allow you to produce quality online content very quickly.

I’ll be showing you more about both these tools over the next few weeks, giving you a "sneak peak" on how they are used, and how to build sales & marketing funnels using them both.

Dez.

(PS The links to FusionHQ & Easy Video Player 2 are affiliate links, so I will get paid money if you subsequently buy either of the products through my links. I highly recommend both, and am using both on my online marketing).

Welcome to the Mad Web Scientist!

My notes on "Auto Mass Traffic Rant – Don’t Buy This Garbage" video:

  • Maybe Ryan Deiss missed this one (I’m wondering if he employs someone to research & run promotions or something..), but the reviewer above slates AutoMass Traffic pretty thoroughly
  • The product seems unfinished, and has 5 upsells, which is where most of the affiliates’ money will be made (not on the front-end $37 product)
  • If you have a mailing list, be very, very careful what you promote – review the sales copy properly before you bash your list. REMEMBER: the relationship you have with your list, and the value that you give them, will largely reflect how much income you can expect to gain, so it’s paramount that you maintain your integrity and respect the people who’ve volunteered their contact details to you (this is a challenge for all internet marketers, including myself)
  • If the sales copy seems hypey, or the numbers don’t seem to add up, then it’s probably best to avoid buying
  • Any REAL online business will require capital outlay, time, consistent and focused effort. You won’t get money pouring into your wallet simply by "configuring, activating and then clicking on your mouse button".

So, what’s the difference between good copywriting, hype and downright lies?

Good sales copy inspires,

But hype churns your stomach.

Good sales copy motivates,

But hype only arouses suspicion.

Good sales copy brings clarity of decision,

But hype only brings derision.

And what about downright lies?

They create apathy and anger,

And only the lawyers get rich.

(The last bit isn’t meant to slate lawyers by the way – they are a necessity…I’m just pointing out that in the online world, they are ultimately the only group who stand to gain out of the shenanigans that threatens to shut down the genuine incredible opportunities that are currently available).

The Google Switch Report

[display_podcast]

The Google Switch Report outlines how to develop an integrated approach to traffic creation, effective lead generation and the creation of raving fans for you business.

Perhaps for the first time, we have mapped out before us a systematic approach to the whole methodology of internet-based traffic generation using different and disparate web technologies.

Some of these technologies (example: press releases) have been around for a long time, but how your business can effectively mesh them all together hasn't always been clear.

Well, now it is.

Jim Yaghi and David Schwind, the authors of the Google Switch, show how you can develop a joined-up approach to lead generation, with constant new torrents of traffic coming from pay per click, viral social media, forums, video and more.

These two experienced marketers not only tell you about the different technologies they use, but also how to apply them effectively, to maximize their impact.

The 136 page report is split into two distinct halves:

Part 1 gives a very honest and real account of both Jim Yaghi and David Schwind's backgrounds before they became successful online. In this section of the report you will learn things like:

why sitting in a cafe all day long led to a real breakthrough in Jim's business
how David went from bizop to bizop chasing the dream life, until one day he discovered the real game-changer

and much more, some of which is helter-skelter stuff.

Part 2 then dives into how David & Jim use the internet to get floods of targetted traffic, and includes top tips on the best ways to help build your reputation online using nothing but your mailing list and creativity in your writing.

In the first section, David explains how he combined Google Adwords, a press release, and his existing mailing list, to get 82 leads in a single day.

The rest of the report shows the incredible ways both David & Jim put together normally disconnected traffic generation techniques, and this is where the real power of The Google Switch Report comes into play.

Every section ends with a useful summary, and with this report alone, if you integrate their strategies into your marketing, you should begin to see a significant growth in your leads and traffic within a short space of time.

The last couple of pages of The Google Switch are a soft sell for Jim Yaghi and David Schwind's new course, entitled PPC Supremacy, where they will obviously be fleshing out the strategies they outline in The Google Switch, and reveal some of their most closely guarded secrets about effective lead generation using both paid and free traffic methods.

I highly recommend The Google Switch, even if you're an experienced online marketer, as it will undoubtedly teach you both new ways to increase the leads coming into your sales funnel and how to convert those leads into paying customers and fans.

Mike Filsaime is a well-known internet marketer, trainer, and all-round very clever chap who has made his fortune online over the last decade.

More recently, he has been moving away from the ‘traditional’ expert-trainer (ie being an internet guru) to focus more on developing 7-figure software online products, also known as ‘Software as a Service’, or SaaS.

His latest project is to open up the source code to one of his most well-known products, the Butterfly Open Source Code, which offers anyone the chance to download and use Butterfly Marketing code for their own use for free.

I’ll be using it on several of the websites I’m developing, including this one. If you want to know more details about this phenomenal offering from Mike Filsaime, visit the Butterfly opensource code website now.

I’ve just been listening to Mike Dillard & Brian Fanale on a webinar talking about how to build your own home based business.

Mike Dillard started in Network Marketing 5 years ago, and Brian a bit less.

Both of them have come from ground zero to now form multi million dollar businesses.

Both of them work with top companies, but they both realised early on that to be a true business owner, you must market yourself, not the business whose products you are wanting to sell.

The reason for that is obvious: companies fail, distributorships get revoked.

The real secret that both Mike & Brian model is that they both decided early on to offer value to their potential clients more than selling to them.

But how do they continue to build their own businesses in the face of so many opportunities and potential distractions?

Mike’s simple answer is to make sure that every single day before he goes to sleep, he does the following:

  • Make a list of the top 5 things you must do to move your business forward
  • Be specific in those top five tasks
  • Don’t go to bed until you’ve completed those tasks
Obviously, getting to the point where you’re able to accurately judge your ability to complete those tasks is a skill in itself..but the more you practice, the better you’ll get at laying these bricks.

Mike Dillard is an industry leader in the network marketing industry because he has combined this “build your mansion brick by brick” with a tremendous desire to give value to others.

If you’re looking to move your business forwards, and want to look over his shoulder (and those of other 7-figure earners in the home business industry), then make sure you get on the early-bird list for his next product, “What’s Working Now” – as it looks to be one of the key skillset & mindset products of 2010 to help network marketers move their businesses forward.

If you’ve been hanging around the IT world for a while, you might know that at one point (and maybe they still do), Microsoft adopted the policy of "embrace and extend".

Translation: take what others are doing, and make it waaaay better.

Often this involves buying companies (and I’m not going to "Microsoft bash" in this post by the way) and working with their existing teams to rapidly move a research project forward to its commercial phase.

Market place dominance becomes possible in an increasing number of meshed niches once a company establishes its brand (think of how many products Amazon now sells compared to 10 years ago).

Is embrace and extend good news for the consumer?

It all depends (of course).

Ubiquity is probably the elixir of life that a company will chase, either to its ultimate ruin, or its universal success, depending on the wisdom and tenacity of its leaders. Becoming a household name on the lips and in the minds of billions of people is a rare accolade only achieved by a few hundred worldwide brands.

In a sense, positioning your company to be some kind of service or infrastructural  backbone almost guarantees your immortality.

I say almost because of course, the environment which sustains brand  dominance is ever-changing, and successful companies ignore the ever-shifting sands of their surroundings at their peril.

So what about Google? Has it drank from this elixir, never to die?

Nobody knows that – but the evidence looks in their favor. Today when Google announced Google Broadband the world almost forgot that just 24 hours ago, we were told about Google Buzz. So, that’s two major innovations within a day.

Talk about ‘stacking’.

I freely admit that the actual rollout of gigabit home broadband is ‘only’ for a pilot group of a maximum of 500,000 North Americans, but nevertheless, Google is clearly straining (perhaps "steam rolling" is more apt) its way into becoming as well known as Coca Cola.

Think about this: less than ten years ago, the small startup had a cool idea about a new way to do to search.

Now even my 3 year old daughter knows the verb "to Google". And every internet marketer around the globe who uses the ubiquitous search engines knows the phrase "Google slap".

And we have the Google phone. And Google Mail. And Google video (aka YouTube). And now a Google Twitter/Facebook mashup that looks like it just might scratch in more places than Google Wave ever will.

And global(?) Google broadband soon…

And Google has its eyes on many other prizes that might well be within its grasp.

Truly embrace and extend.

Truly good for the world?

It all depends, as always, on the character of the leadership of the company. Are they motivated to make the world a better place? It certainly seems so. Google is treading its way to lead ("drag"?) red-necked dollar-driven, hard-nosed multi-nationals into a new era of social capitalism in a way that no-one thought possible – like a Moon-landing-4-minute-mile-water-into-wine extravaganza of "unliklihoods" all rolled into one.

On the other hand, how it all pans out depends, as always, on how Google copes with such universal acceptance. Will it remain able to hold to its open-handed philosophy of "do no evil" (as I alluded to in yesterday’s musings)?

Let’s hope so. Now is a good time to foster the entrepreneurial and innovative mindset like nobody’s business.

Or everybody’s business, perhaps.

Dez.

The IM Report Card is a brilliant concept – it gives anyone with direct experience of internet marketing products a chance to share their experiences, good & bad, of a product that they’ve bought/used.

It aims to become THE place of effective peer-review in the Internet-Marketing Community, and it’s aims in that respect are commendable.

What’s more interesting, is that the owners will also *pay* the reviewers money, which is a good way of encouraging people to bother to review. All submissions are monitored for spammy links, and are reviewed prior to publication.

Here’s an article I’ve just finished about Global Domains International, with whom I’m a member:

Little Disclaimer: I can only speak from personal experience here, so please don’t take what I say as ‘gospel’.

I’ve been using GDI for a couple of months now, in ‘set-and-forget’ mode.

I found out about them through an affiliate link on Twitter.

If you’re new to website building, and don’t mind paying a little over the odds for a basic webhosting/design service, then I think GDI is great value – the GUI-based interface is a real God-send for anyone new to designing web pages.

For myself, I didn’t personally ‘warm’ to the web-building interface, as I’m the sort of guy who likes building things from the ground up.

Having said that, I didn’t join GDI for the web-building tools; I joined it to earn some money.

I’m currently working on a few businesses, one of them being affiliate marketing, and so one way I’m promoting GDI is through a very simple banner ad on my blog.

I’m not expecting it generate significant income initially, but once traffic grows significantly to my blog, I’m sure that some people will like what GDI offers, particularly in the niche that the blog focuses on.

The other way I’m promoting GDI is again incidental – through Kimbal Roundy’s Spider Web Marketing System, which he’s imminently releasing in it’s version 2.0 form, using social media.

Undoubtedly Kimbal uses GDI & other affiliate schemes to earn himself money, and I think he’s a very clever guy (& all the best to him for creating SWS 2.0).

In the long run, I expect to earn the most using GDI through Kimbal’s system, as it’s a very powerful lead generation product that he’s created.

If you’re not doing either of the above, or promoting it through other methods that the GDI trainers recommend, I would say that unless you totally focus on GDI completely, you’ll be disappointed with the results.

But in truth, you shouldn’t expect to gain much in any niche/business model unless you put massive action into it, so noone should be complaining that GDI doesn’t match up to their expectations.

To anyone out there who’s just starting out using the internet to make money – don’t be angry with the marketing, just learn about it, and learn from it…..monitor your own emotional response when you see good marketing & learn why it’s so effective in drawing you in.

In time, you’ll have the principles firmly established in what you do. Remember, good marketing is all about AIDAS (Attention/Interest/Desire/Action/Satisfaction). The GDI marketing is amongst the best I’ve seen.

But I’m not cross with them for drawing me in – I went into GDI with my eyes open. I’m not disappointed. Remember too that there is a *lot* of training available to help you if you want it.

I’m busy developing my primary businesses, so I haven’t availed myself of that training – but it’s there if I ever want/need it.

So, if you are a GDI member, take the advice from the few reviewers here who have stuck it out, some of whom *are* earning good money.

And if you’re thinking about joining them, but haven’t yet made up your mind, make sure you realize that you *will* have to work hard at it initially – and as one other reviewer said – be prepared to think outside the box a little bit & find you’re own unique angle.

That’s one of the key ingredients for any *really* successful marketer, whatever you’re promoting/creating.

All the best,

Dez.
